Solar Panel Inspection

From first flight to full life, complete solar asset care.

Pre-installation roof assessment, installation monitoring, a commissioning health report, ongoing thermal inspections and panel washing. One provider, one point of contact and a complete condition record from day one.

Aerial & Site Services

A care programme, not a one-off inspection.

Using thermal imaging, LiDAR and AI-assisted analysis, we help installers protect themselves from liability before a single panel goes up, give owners a clear baseline the day a system is commissioned, and keep systems performing with scheduled health checks and cleaning for years afterwards.

What we offer

01

Thermal performance analysis

The H30T scans the entire array for temperature variations that indicate faults. Each anomaly is documented with its location and temperature.

  • Cell fractures and internal damage
  • Bypass diode failures
  • Junction box overheating
  • Wiring and string inconsistencies
  • Potential-induced degradation (PID)
02

Visual defect documentation

High-resolution imagery documenting the physical condition of panels and mounting.

  • Cracks, delamination and discolouration
  • Soiling, shading and debris
  • Mounting and drainage issues
  • Bird nesting and pest damage
03

Two reports, two audiences

A full technical report (module-by-module, assessed to DIN IEC/TS 62446-3) for your records, plus a compact field action report that sends your crew straight to the panels that need attention.

  • GPS-located anomalies
  • Interactive 3D site model
  • Ranked action list for technicians
04

Solar panel drone washing

A precision aerial spray system with a gentle, non-bleach formulation. No roof access, no scaffolding, and far less water than traditional methods.

  • Restores output lost to soiling
  • Safe for panel coatings and membranes
  • Book after an inspection or standalone

Roof suitability assessment, before you install

Installers often commit to a system design before anyone has accurately measured the roof. Our pre-installation LiDAR assessment provides the data an installer needs before quoting. No estimates, no satellite guesses.

  • Roof area by pitch plane, to the square metre
  • Pitch and orientation for every surface
  • Ridge, valley and hip dimensions
  • Shading analysis of trees, structures and neighbouring buildings
  • Structural condition, so problem areas are fixed before panels go down
  • LiDAR point cloud and 3D mesh for installer reference

Protect yourself before you install

A pre-installation scan gives installers a dated, GPS-referenced record of the roof's existing condition: cracked tiles, water staining, sagging areas. If a dispute arises about who caused what, you have independent evidence. If we find a pre-existing issue, we flag it immediately so the owner can address it before panels go down.

Initial health report: your commissioning baseline

Within days of a system going live we fly a full thermal and visual inspection. It records how every module performed on day one, surfaces manufacturing or installation defects while they're under warranty, and sets the baseline for every future inspection.

How it works

A clear process, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Consultation

System size, panel type, mounting and any known issues shape the inspection plan.

  2. 02

    On-site inspection

Thermal and visual capture during peak sun, with the system under load.

  3. 03

    Analysis

Specialists separate genuine faults from expected variation for your panel type.

  4. 04

    Reporting

Panel-level mapping, severity classifications and prioritised maintenance.

  5. 05

    Results review

An optional walkthrough of the findings and a maintenance strategy.

What you receive

Deliverables you can act on.

  • Full technical report with thermal and visual imagery
  • Field action report with GPS and 3D-model links
  • Severity classification for each anomaly
  • Historical comparison for repeat inspections

Why Drones At Work

Full-lifecycle coverage

From the pre-install roof assessment to washing years later, it's one call.

Dual-sensor capture

Thermal and RGB captured together on an RTK platform, for consistent data on large arrays.

Efficient and safe

Thousands of panels a day, no generation downtime, no one walking the array.

Who it’s for

Who we do this for

  • Solar installers & EPC contractors

Dated, GPS-referenced roof condition evidence before your crew arrives, progress monitoring and a handover report your client will remember.

  • Commercial building owners

Keep rooftop systems at peak output and catch faults while they're under warranty.

  • Solar farms

Fast coverage of utility-scale arrays to prioritise maintenance and protect returns.

  • Homeowners

Verify performance and document issues for warranty claims.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How often should solar panels be inspected?

We recommend annually for most sites, or twice a year for larger commercial and utility-scale arrays, to catch developing faults while they're still a maintenance job.

Can I see an example report?

Yes. Ask for a sample and we'll email you a real Full Technical Report and Field Action Report, along with an indicative quote for your site.

Do you assess roofs before installation?

Yes. Our LiDAR roof suitability assessment gives exact pitch planes, areas, shading and structural condition, so installers can quote accurately.
